The blog on beading for beginners,http://www.todaysbeads.com/2009/03/15/beading-for-beginners.html, defines what it means to not be helpful. Having taught this subject, I found little useful advice offered by this blog. Nobody will try beading having read this blog.
When teaching this subject I add a few more points like bead and needle sizing, bead composition and pricing, a list of common findings , and actual project. I always finish with a summary of what projects the student can attempt in the future, and what possible roads they can take there beading to.
My goal when I teach any entry level course is to motivate students into exploring the topic beyond the class. If it is a skills driven class, I give them options for growing their skills. If I have to boil down my concerns with this blog down to a single point, it would have to be that this blog has no point—no passion—no commitment to life long learning. But that is the common malaise of liberals and the Obama administration, isn’t it?
