Comparing investing to winemaking is a very interesting concept. In the blog article http://www.igoinvestment.com/2009/05/04/investing-lessons-from-the-vineyards.htmlthe author does just that; and is very successful. The advice is by no means unique--it is simply uniquely presented. The piece is well written and well thought out, but like any other comparison, it can become an analogy taken too far. For instance the suggestion to have faith in your strategy is not actually accurate in investments or grape growing. Winemakers do remove entire vineyards before they are productive for a number of reasons, all related to the ROI. Investments in Stocks should similarly be concerned with ROI, but not to the same extent as wineries.
The one piece of advice I would add to both endeavors is to learn as much information as one can afford before trying either. Information is priceless in growing grapes and portfolios.
