Racism Under Obama

Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, like many other Republicans, take a different approach to answering questions on policies. Barack obama is one of the very few Democrats that took the same route. While campaigning for presidency, Barack Obama had a tendency to explain the values behind a policy rather than the policy itself. When asked about his views on affirmative action by George Stephanopoulus, President Obama's response was said to be interesting but vague by many people.

It's been said that Barack Obama is acknowledging voter's underlying concerns but that maybe he should work on his explanation of the specific policy just the same. Although at times vague, President Obama doesn't feel the way some of his followers would like him to. As he believes that education should be accessible to those less fortunate and acknowledging that race is still a factor in society today, Obama has stated that there should be more stipulations on the system so that it's not taken for granted or abused. He used his daughters as an example, in saying that they had a "pretty good deal" and would not be needing special treatment.

President Obama suggested that there be tighter guidelines so that only those in less fortunate situations had the opportunity to further themselves. Both voters and the media seemed to like this response. There was no negative commentary after his statements on the issue came out. As vague as he was on the actual policy itself, Obama was able to reach people with what he feels is his "common sense" approach to the issue.
