Increased Government Sponsored Racism under Obama

There is much controversy regarding government sponsored racism under Obama. Many Obama supporters accuse critics of the President of being racists. Many of the critics are right-wingers. Some say the right-wingers dislike the President because he is black. Others are critical of the President because he is nearly one hundred percent liberal. Regardless of the reason, there is increased tension and concern about the future government plans to sponsor affirmative action lawsuits.

At the start of the Obama presidential campaign, the supporters of Obama promised and prophesied that Obama would help America "transcend race." This has not happened. Rather it has heightened and deepened racist accusations. Many are concerned that Obama has triggered fears among white people. The concern is that the white people are losing their country and that this may be the last decade in which we know the United States as it now is, a democracy. The concern continues that all persons in the U.S. do not have equal opportunities and that racism has worsened.

It was the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which insured that everyone, regardless of gender, race, religion, country of origin, or color of skin, would have equal opportunity under the law. It was under President Johnson that the Great Society ideals surfaced and promoted the idea that past injustices should be made up. In 1989, new laws were added. This gave the African Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans, and Native Americans advantages in securing government contracts as example of racial preference. Depending on how this and other racially sponsored laws are developed and implemented, it could point the way to increased negative racism under Obama.
