Is Obama's health care proposal Socialism.

By the definition of Socialism offered by renown economist Robert Heilbroner in the Concise Encyclopedia of Economics it is. To reference that work, Socialism is...

"defined as a centrally planned economy in which the government controls all means of production—was the tragic failure of the twentieth century. Born of a commitment to remedy the economic and moral defects of capitalism, it has far surpassed capitalism in both economic malfunction and moral cruelty. Yet the idea and the ideal of socialism linger on. Whether socialism in some form will eventually return as a major organizing force in human affairs is unknown, but no one can accurately appraise its prospects who has not taken into account the dramatic story of its rise and fall."

Socialism and Obama's plan are both planned economies. Obama's plan requires that most Americans purchase health Insurance, and that the government, not free market forces dictate price and coverage. The term "dictate" is most appropriate because it is the ability to dictate that motivates Obama, not a concern for the welfare or health care of American's; since under Obama's plan death panels will rationing of the health care each o us is granted based on our value to society. These death panels already exist, as one of my previous blogs discussed. In Obama's usual slimy Chicago fashion, he used another piece of unrelated legislation to sneak that one past American voters almost un-noticed.

Socialism and Obama's Health care plan both represent commitments to remedy supposed moral defects of Capitalism. Obama and other socialists hate capitalism and they hate corporations.

In that respect both hate America.

One final similarity is that both Socialism and Obama care are designed to fail. Socialism fails because it fails to provide motivation to achieve above the norm, and because in every instant it has been applied, it has been high jacked to achieve morally repugnant ends, like racism and genocide. Socialism is based on government deciding what is fair, and governments are as fallible or more fallible then people. A government is unable to determine what is fair, almost everyone will disagree with their judgment. Socialism only works if everyone agrees that it should work, and those who believe it is unfair will prevent socialism from working.

Obamacare faces the same result because to work everyone must want it to work. Half of our nation does not like Obama, and a good 30% really hate him. Forcing half of America to be part of the success of a man they dislike or hate means they will actively oppose the success of his program. One means may be to make sure that they use more medical care then they pay for in premiums. Another means may be for health care workers to simply leave the field,(not a hard choice since under Obama care they will be paid less anyhow).

In the few moments I have spent writing this, I can offer two effective methods for sabotaging Obama's plan, (and probably his career as well). The half of America that Opposes Obama care are frankly the more creative, more successful half of America, and they will come up with an vast array of methods beyond this. Obama care will fail, it will cost America greatly, and as a result will create an even greater negative effect on the world as a whole.

In short, the answer is yes. Obamacare is socialism. Socialism is designed to fail. When it does, Obama fails as well.
