What is moral relativism, and is Obama the next Hitler?

What is moral relativism and what are the crimes of moral relativism? A typical Democrat asked and tried to answer this question. Becca B.'s answer highlights the primary flaw of the Democratic Party and the liberal left. That flaw is a lack of principles. Let us look at Becca’s response highlighted below.  

What are crimes of Moral relativism? They are crimes against morality. However, with the many new standards today, what is a crime and what is not? Pedophiles, people who prey on children, are a moral crime, but there is a problem. What defines the word child now days? Usually it is deemed anyone under the age of 18, but what about kids who are teen aged, experimenting with sex? What is the age of consent, because it is different from state to state? Should the boy who just turned 18 but is having relations with his 17-year-old girlfriend be arrested for rape? Where do you draw the line?

The same goes for murder. It is a crime to kill someone, whether in cold blood or under duress, but what about the ones who have been victims of abuse by their spouses for so long that they feel there is no other way out but to kill their significant other? This is the folly of moral relativism. What might be morally wrong in one instance may not be at other times. For example, incest is considered very immoral and illegal in every state. Is being gay immoral enough to prevent the legality of same sex marriages?

It is hard to find relative information on this subject because morality means different things to different people. Many cultures see arranged marriages as a right, but what if one of them is under age? Does being married mean that one has the right to force themselves on their spouse? Not too long ago marital rape wasn't even considered a crime. Where do we draw the line?

Where to draw the line indeed? A liberal practicing moral relativism, like Becca does not know because she does not have a set of moral and ethical principles to guide her.

What is moral relativism? Moral relativism holds that morality is relative based on the circumstances one is in, rather than a clear demarcation of right and wrong (known as a categorical imperative, explained here) . It is not always wrong to lie, cheat, or steal if the act of is justified by the greater good. Another common way of stating this axiom is to say that an act is acceptable if the ends justify the means.

A historical note needs to be mentioned at this point. The worst dictatorships and most repugnant acts in history have been justified by moral relativism. In fact, every crime against humanity has been predicated on the basis that the ends justify the goriest, inhuman, and insane means.  Condemning such acts as the Holocaust, the Inquisition, and the genocide in Darfur is based on a fixed sense of right and wrong that holds nothing can justify murder.

Sadly, to not know history condemns one to repeat it.  Democrats and Liberals like Becca do not know the history of moral relativism. Looking at the examples she used to justify moral relativism demonstrates this. Moral relativism can justify murder if it can rationalize that many can benefit by that murder. Africa is overpopulated, so is the death of millions in Darfur justified because it reduces the population? Statutory rape is acceptable if both parties consent, according to Becca. If both parties consent when a 50 year old priest rapes a 10 year old child, is that not equally acceptable?

The problem Becca and other moral relativists have is the slippery slope.  When there is no fixed principle to guide and base all actions, then any action can be rationalized as reasonable. This is a problem shared by all Liberals and most Democrats, including our current president. We have seen Obama justify racism in his current picks for the Supreme Court, justify tax fraud in his cabinet picks, justify communism and tyranny in his handling of our economy and the crisis in the auto industry, and justify murder of the unborn.

Obama lacks principals, he does not know right from wrong. I will be most blunt here, Obama, and liberals as a whole, are immoral because they are moral relativists.  Everyone history deems evil is a moral relativist. They capable of and can rationalize crimes against humanity.

So what is a crime of moral relativism? Darfur, the Holocaust, the Armenian Holocaust, the rape of Peking, etc. Sadly the list is endless. Most sadly, Obama appears committed to joining that list.
